Set up travel time calculation and buffer
Prevent double bookings for in-person appointments. Pleney automatically calculates travel time based on the client address, or you can set a fixed buffer.
1. Create an in-person event type
Go to your dashboard and create a new event type (or edit an existing one). Set the 'Meeting' tab to 'In person'. Enter the default address.
2. Open the Travel tab
After selecting 'In person', a new 'Travel' tab appears. Click it. Toggle 'Enable travel time' on.
3. Choose calculation method
You have two options: 'Smart' calculates travel time automatically via PDOK (address lookup) and OSRM (route calculation). 'Fixed buffer' adds a fixed number of minutes before and/or after each appointment. Smart is default; fixed buffer works as a fallback.
4. Set the fixed buffer (optional)
With 'Fixed buffer': set the buffer before the appointment (e.g. 30 min) and/or after (e.g. 15 min). These minutes are blocked in your calendar so no one else can book during that time.
5. How slot blocking works
For each new booking, Pleney checks if there is enough travel time between appointments. Overlapping time slots are automatically blocked. Customers only see times that are available including travel time.
